When would a refurbished laptop be more appropriate that just going out to treat yourself to a brand new one? It’s a good question when you often can see lots of excellent deals from the hardware manufactures like Dell and HP. However there are hidden advantages to getting a refurbished laptop over a brand new one.

It’s often the case that refurbished laptops are nearly new laptops that have been returned to the manufacturer with a minor faulty; sometimes this can be a physical failure or cosmetic damage, for example a scratch on the outer casing. In the case of a physical failure the supplier will replace the broken item and the sell it on to a broker who will sell it directly to you. If it has a cosmetic scratch that doesn’t effect the actual performance of the laptop they probably will sell it on as it is.

Now, ask yourself this question, are you someone who wants your equipment to be pristine? Do you leave the protective packaging on your remote controls? If so, you probably won’t love the idea of getting a laptop with a scratch on it.

However if you are relaxed about this type of thing and realize the benefits of saving $100+ off something that would probably have scratched yourself within a few weeks then you are the ideal candidate for purchasing an refurbished laptop.

There are some great bargains to be had regardless of buying new or used so work out your budget and see what you can afford. Happy Hunting!
